Senior Devops Engineer | Zowie | Poland
About Zowie:
At Zowie, we’re all about pushing boundaries in customer experience. Our AI solutions are designed to help businesses connect faster, personalize better, and solve smarter. Top online brands (True Classic, Modivo, MediaMarkt, et al.) trust Zowie’s AI agents to be on the front-line of their customer care efforts (>1.2M conversations monthly) – to give their customers rapid support, speak their brands’ voice, drive customer loyalty, and boost their revenue. With just 1 out of every 1,000 website visitors talking to customer service globally, we believe that a well thought-out AI can tap into this gap and unlock tremendous value by bringing speed and empathy to customer interactions.
We’re a team of over 100 very ambitious individuals on a mission to do just that.
Having found strong product traction both in Europe and in the US, we’re now scaling and improving our infrastructure to meet the demand. With that, we’re now looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with a passion for automation, scalability, and high availability, ready to take on big challenges and help us take our infrastructure to new heights.
3 major factors shape the nature of technical challenges at Zowie:
Real-time – just like in a real conversation, every second counts in how quickly our AI Agents respond.
Mission-critical – we’re on our customers’ front lines. Even minor issues or delays on our end can significantly impact their business (and we hear about it right away).
Usage variance – e-commerce is very susceptible to seasonality (e.g. Black Friday) and random trends (viral hypes) and our highly distributed infrastructure (>130 services) needs to be able to adapt to them.
Are you up for some huge systems-related challenges?
What you’ll do:
- Production infrastructure management: Manage, create, and maintain our cloud Kubernetes environment, monitoring stack, on-premise Docker stack, and database technologies (Mongo, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Redis)
- Software release cycle support: provide tools, automate the creation of on-demand development environments, provide CI/CD pipelines, and manage their effectiveness
- Infrastructure access: role-based access distribution and management across the organization with infrastructure as code (IaC)
- Stakeholder alignment: communicate to understand different infrastructure stakeholders’ challenges, provide solution plans, and share best DevOps practices with the engineering team
- Incident response support: help engineering teams diagnose infrastructure-related problems during incidents
- Security: implement and manage security protocols to protect company data and systems, including regular updates and monitoring
Ideally, you’ll bring with you:
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Systems Admin, or similar roles
- High proficiency in working with AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure
- Good familiarity with any CI/CD tool
- Solid expertise in managing any relational database system
- Competence in developing automation scripts in bash (and ideally Python too)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic can-do attitude
- A high degree of ownership and ability to drive a project from requirements’ specification with stakeholders, through planning and execution, all the way to successful delivery
- Strong communication skills are a must
- Composure to high-pressure situations to effectively support engineers during incidents
It will be awesome if you have:
- Experience with visualization tools like Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus,
- Experience with storage tech like MongoDB, Postgres, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch
- Experience managing AWS costs, running backup recovery operations
- Experience maintaining Kubernetes manifests with Helm and Argo
We are:
- Ambitious and innovative. We never settle. We always look for better ways of doing things.
- Like a sports team. We take ownership of our work and believe in personal accountability. At the same time, we work together, support each other, and focus on winning as a team.
- Unafraid of change. The market we’re in is changing rapidly and we thrive in this ever-evolving environment.
- Growing fast. You’ll have a lot of autonomy and impact as we grow.
