We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our consulting team and lead DevOps initiatives for our clients. In this role, you will translate client problems into the best possible solutions using a diverse range of tools and technologies. Your ability to understand client requirements, and constraints, and adapt solutions accordingly is critical. Staying current with industry trends and continuously evaluating new technologies is essential, as the best tool for the job can evolve over time. You will work closely with diverse clients, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is technically versatile, intellectually curious, humble, and excels in both strategic planning and hands-on execution in a client-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure platforms and solutions using tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Crossplane, Ansible, and Packer.
- Participate in and contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, ensuring integration of DevOps practices throughout the process.
- Manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), ensuring compliance with best practices and frameworks such as Well-Architected and CIS.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI/CD to facilitate rapid and reliable software delivery.
- Leverage automation and integration capabilities to optimize orchestration, deployment, and management of diverse application types across modern containerized, serverless, and traditional virtualized infrastructures.
- Architect, develop, and manage Red Hat OpenShift environments, applying in-depth knowledge of OpenShift-specific features and best practices for both container-based and VM-based workloads.
- Implement observability solutions using tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and ElasticStack to monitor system performance and ensure uptime.
- Apply SRE principles to improve system reliability, performance, and capacity through automation and infrastructure as code.
- Write code to address client challenges using languages such as Python, Go, Bash, and JavaScript.
- Build and present technical prototypes and proofs of concept to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating potential solutions and innovations.
- Work directly with clients to understand their needs, provide technical solutions, and ensure satisfaction with delivered services.
- Mentor junior engineers, guiding best practices, tools, and methodologies in DevOps and cloud operations.
- Implement and maintain security best practices across all systems and processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, processes, and best practices. Share knowledge with the team and contribute to internal and external knowledge bases.
- Advocate for and evangelize DevOps principles and practices within the organization and with clients, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Position Requirements:
- You can write code, preferably in Python or Golang.
- You can run production software in the cloud or a data center.
- You have a strong background in DevOps and DevSecOps with preference given to those who also have software engineering experience.
- You have comprehensive knowledge of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and can apply this understanding across all stages of software engineering projects.
- You hold at least one professional-level certification in the Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and can demonstrate expertise in Kubernetes, OpenShift, HashiStack, Linux, and CNCF.
- You possess Enterprise level Red Hat OpenShift expertise and hold at least one Red Hat OpenShift certification, preferably RHCS in OpenShift Automation and Integration
- You can build technical prototypes and present them to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- You espouse and evangelize DevOps principles.
- You are intellectually curious, empathetic, and humble.
- You are punctual, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
- You can learn quickly and go deep when necessary.
- You can work in a diverse, dispersed team environment.
Education
- College degree and/or five years equivalent experience.
Work Conditions
- Full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek; additional hours may be required during peak project periods or for urgent issues.
- Primarily remote work with the potential for occasional on-site visits to client locations and company offices as required.
- Frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and client stakeholders.
- Minimal physical effort required; primarily a desk-based role with extensive use of computer and video conferencing tools.
