About Us:
The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the ATSI Act and subject to the PGPA Act. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural, and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and freshwater country.
About the Team:
The Policy, Strategy and Performance section sits within the Program Development and Delivery Directorate and is responsible for the development and delivery of policy, strategic planning, evaluation, and reporting based on sound research and consultation. It is also responsible for the ILSC’s obligations under the Commonwealth Corporate Performance Framework, including related Government Relations. It provides advice and support to the Office of the CEO, senior management and employees on policy issues, and plays a key role in supporting the ILSC’s internal planning, monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement regimes, to support the delivery of activities in line with its NILSS, RILSS and Corporate Plan.
About the role:
The Senior Engagement Advisor role is a primarily internal-facing position that focusses on building the capability of the ILSC to deliver targeted, meaningful, culturally appropriate, and effective engagement with First Nations people and our broader stakeholder base.
Under the guidance of the Manager – Strategy and Engagement, the role will lead the development, planning and implementation of initiatives, projects and activities that enable delivery of the Meaningful Connection priority of the National Indigenous Land and Sea Strategy.
Under the direction of the Manager of Policy, Strategy, Performance and Communication you will:
Lead the development and implementation of a whole-of-organisation Engagement Framework including:
- engagement principles and standards
- enabling policies and processes
- engagement tools and consultation mechanisms
- and risk management strategies.
Build the capability of ILSC staff to establish, build and maintain collaborative and meaningful relationships with First Nations stakeholders and other relevant partners that:
- enables deeper engagement on community concerns and interests
- facilitates engagement with government and industry
- and supports delivery of key ILSC and stakeholder projects in a culturally competent manner.
- Ensure any engagement initiatives comply with legislation, best practice guidelines, cultural competency standards, and align with relevant government and internal initiatives. For example, the Commonwealth Engagement and Partnership Framework.
- Lead the design, implementation and uptake of a Customer Relationship Management tool across the ILSC to enable improved engagement with external stakeholders. Technical expertise will be provided.
- Provide advice to staff on the development of their engagement plans and external engagement or consultation processes.
