In this role, you’ll research, manage projects, and report on land tenure and Indigenous land claims under the NTA, TSILA, and ALA. You’ll assess State land issues, recommend tenure actions, and implement agreements following Indigenous Land Use registration. You’ll also lead consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and produce high-level reports on land transfers.

About The Role

In this role you will:

  • Develop tenure resolution packages for Indigenous Land Use Agreements in response to native title land issues.
  • Provide planning advice and recommendations for suitable land, considering its significance to claimants, the community, and the State.
  • Manage land administrative actions and consultations to increase Indigenous access to land under relevant legislation.
  • Exercise delegated authority, make sound decisions, and provide briefings on risk and legislative compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders, agencies, and communities on land matters.

This Position Requires

  • Experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and an understanding or knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People cultures is essential.
  • Experience in the ability to interpret relevant legislation and/or policy is essential.
  • Knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in the use of Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint, and land databases such as ATS and QLD Globe would be highly regarded.
  • Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce.
  • Travel away from the centre will be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
  • Current C class driver’s licence.
