Senior Kafka Platform Engineer (Remote)

This role focuses on the management and optimization of our Kafka-based systems, ensuring their efficiency, security, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage new Kafka clusters and associated components
• Continuously monitor overall system health and data pipeline performance
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across the platform
• Regularly optimize Kafka platform components for peak performance
• Manage updates and upgrades to Kafka clusters
• Implement security measures for data protection and access control
• Oversee Kafka platform capacity, plan for future scaling
• Capture and share detailed documentation and solution procedures within the team
• Interface with Confluent Support for complex unresolved issues
• Administer Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management for Kafka platforms
• Develop and refine automation scripts for streamlined platform management
• Facilitate Kafka self-service automations for enhanced user autonomy
• Assist application teams with Kafka integrations
• Manage and escalate team support requests through appropriate channels
• Deploy new functionalities based on vendor’s product developments

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Apache Kafka
• Proven background in Confluent Platform implementation and maintenance, including proficiency with Kubernetes and HELM
• Qualifications in or certifications from relevant authorities like Confluent Certified Developer or Administrator for Apache Kafka preferred
• Expertise in Kubernetes, HELM, Groovy, and Jenkins
• Capability to script and automate using Python and Groovy
• Proficiency in problem-solving and troubleshooting complex technical issues
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice to have

• Strong intermediate skills in Python/Shell scripting, automation, Jenkins pipelines, and Groovy
• Intermediate familiarity with GCP
• Strong intermediate knowledge of Linux configurations and operations
