What you’ll be doing:

As a member of the Legal team within the Legal and Risk division, the Senior Legal Counsel will join a supportive and collaborative team of legal and compliance professionals and will provide legal support to the Virgin Australia Group.   Reporting to the General Manager, Legal, your role will include a diverse mix of work, including drafting and negotiating commercial and general procurement contracts, working collaboratively with our business colleagues on strategic business-wide initiatives, reviewing marketing and promotional communications and advising on a broad range of legal and compliance risks, including privacy, competition and consumer law, spam compliance and workplace health and safety. In this role, you’ll also support with the delivery of legal and compliance training to business team members, help drive process improvement initiatives through the Legal team’s Legal Operation’s program and champion engagement with the Legal team in the Virgin Australia Group.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

• Have a minimum of 10 years post admission experience working with an inhouse team or reputable law firm
• Have strong technical contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Have experience advising on compliance issues, including any of competition and consumer law, privacy, spam and workplace health and safety. 
• Are solutions focussed, with the ability to deliver legal advice, which is both compliant and supports the achievement of strategic objectives
• Are experienced in managing multiple internal and external stakeholders in a fast paced and dynamic environment
• Have excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Have exceptional attention to detail
• Are comfortable working with Legal technology platforms, including matter and document management systems and have a keen eye for process improvement opportunities, including through the use of technology.
