As the Competitive Intelligence and Market Response Manager, you will spearhead the development and execution of strategies that deliver actionable competitive insights, and fuel our Health & Benefits market response initiatives. You will be a key player in analyzing the competitive landscape, anticipating competitor moves, and shaping effective response strategies to strengthen our market position.
This role requires a strategic mindset, Health & Benefits expertise, and a passion for transforming disparate data into impactful strategies that drive sales growth and protect the business against competitive threats. This role will consistently partner with, and deliver insights to cross-functional stakeholders in Sales, Sales Enablement, Product Marketing, Product, Go-To-Market, and Service & Operations.
How you’ll make an impact
- Competitive Intelligence: Lead the establishment of a robust competitive intelligence function. Gather, analyze, and synthesize data on competitors trends and industry dynamics. Develop best practices for competitive research and insight dissemination.
- Competitive Tracking and Market Surveillance: Continuously monitor and analyze competitor activities. Provide detailed reports highlighting threats, opportunities, and potential market shifts.
- Competitive Response: Develop and execute effective competitive response strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create tactical plans that strengthen WEX market positioning.
- Market Positioning and Value Prop Messaging: Inform and partner with Sales Enablement and Product Marketing to refine WEX product positioning and value prop based on competitive insights. Ensure differentiation and resonance with the target audience.
- Sales Enablement and Training: Equip the Sales team with insights to address competitive threats. Partner with Sales Enablement to develop digestible Sales trainings and response playbooks. Partner with Product Marketing and Product to develop battle cards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment on competitive strategies and market responses. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
- Scenario Planning and Impact Assessment: Lead scenario planning exercises to anticipate potential competitive moves and their impact. Develop contingency plans to address market disruptions and emerging threats.
- Performance Metrics and Reporting: Define and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of competitive intelligence and response strategies. Regularly report on the impact of competitive actions and responses.
Experience you’ll bring
- 5-7+ years of experience in the product management, sales, and/or marketing of employee benefit administration, consumer directed healthcare (e.g., HSA, FSA, HRA, etc.), and COBRA technologies and services, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Proven ability to influence business outcomes through strategic thinking, problem-solving, and competitive insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with senior leadership to drive strategic decision-making.
- Proficient in the use of competitive intelligence tools, market research platforms, and data analytics.
- Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of industry trends, competitor strategies, and market dynamics.
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX’s total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Pay Range: $115,000.00 – $153,000.00
