Doosan GridTech has an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Senior Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer to join our growing Australian team.  

Reporting to O&M Manager based in Melbourne, VIC, you will be responsible for orchestrating Doosan GridTech’s holistic Maintenance and Warranty Support Program for our Battery Energy Storage System based in Canberra, ACT (CBESS). You will work closely with industry stakeholders, customers, and our engineers to support the best energy storage systems in the world. 

This position requires regular and frequent travel to our BESS project site in Canberra, ACT, and irregular travel to other BESS sites in Australia (as needed). 

We require a person with strong electrical engineering background, technical understanding of complex energy storage systems and SCADA networks and operations, and ability to collaborate with a small, fast-paced team. Experience in operating and maintaining assets in the National Electricity Market (NEM) is a strong plus. Other desired capabilities, job responsibilities and qualifications follow.

Required  

• A strong background in electrical engineering and knowledge of electrical codes, regulations and industry best practice.  
• Working knowledge of battery storage and solar technologies, including their operation, grid connections and permitting requirements. 
• Technical understanding of utility scale BESS, their maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and warranty support. 
• Technical understanding of SCADA networks and operations. 
• Familiarity with maintenance management system software.  
• Ability to lead others performing complex system maintenance and repair in an electrical distribution or construction environment. 
• Strong customer engagement and listening skills.  
• Excellent analytical skills, judgment, and ability to drive trade-off decisions.  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
• Ability to support and collaborate with a small, fast-paced team to deliver customer value in an often highly ambiguous work environment.

Desired  

• Australian power system understanding and experience. 
• Experience with utility-scale energy storage, utility-focused product design or delivering technology-driven products (hardware or software) for the electric grid.  
• Experience in operating and maintaining assets in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and NEM requirements.  

Responsibilities  

• Represent Doosan GridTech Australia in post-delivery Energy Storage System support.   
• Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs to ensure system reliability and longevity. 
• Management of third-party vendors for warranty, O&M and technical support. 
• Work with remote operation centers who provide daily plant reports and monitoring through SCADA, scheduled and unscheduled outage management, reporting and support of comms links to stakeholders. 
• Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to procure necessary equipment, parts, and services required for maintenance and operations. 
• Work with Field Supervisors and Technicians to address operational issues promptly, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve problems. 
• Provide contractor oversight. 
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to operations, maintenance, and performance data to demonstrate conformance with contractual performance guarantees. 
• Ensure compliance with the Company’s Work Health and Safety management system, industry best standards, and regulatory requirements pertaining to energy storage operations. 
• Develop strategies to optimize energy storage performance, maximize efficiency, and minimize downtime. 
• Manage the commissioning process on active projects across Australia.  
• Work directly with the Project Managers to ensure safety during the commissioning and O&M process.  

Qualifications  

• BA in Electrical Engineering or similar. 
• 5+ years of direct experience maintaining complex electric power systems (preferred).
