About the Office for People
The Office for People is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operation implementation of human resource strategies relating to the attraction, retention, development, and management of academic and professional staff in the University.
A key strategic initiative for Office for People is the Build Pay Confidence Program. The program comprises of five streams of work and multiple active projects aimed at addressing key risks and improving Western Sydney University compliance with employment legislation.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Data Analyst to join the Office for People to provide data analytics and insights to the program. This is a unique opportunity to develop and implement our payroll data models to provide insights that support critical business decisions.
The Senior Payroll Data Analyst is an integral member of the program team, providing advice and data for the University’s building pay confidence program. The position will be required to understand payroll data and have a deep understanding of payroll compliance.
The position will be creative in the design, development and production of payroll data models. It will lead the business to implement payroll data analytics and insights that support compliant employment decisions.
Relationships will be at the heart of your success, working closely with our payroll and HR operations teams, ITDS and our Competitive Insights and Analytics team to ensure we are at the forefront of payroll data analytics and insights.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 30 September 2026. Campus location is negotiable, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required. Please review the position description for further information.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with a relevant degree in Human Resources, Finance or other related field. You will bring extensive knowledge of payroll systems, preferably Ascender Pay.
You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with extensive experience in areas of assurance and payroll compliance, preferably in the tertiary education sector. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the production of data models (including visual summaries). Highly desirable is experience in payroll remediation calculations.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 8 $134,532 to $149,345 p.a. (comprising Salary of $113,681 to $126,198 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
