Senior Payroll Product Manager | Swooped | United States

Introduction

The team consists of driven, conscientious individuals with a clear mission: to simplify accounting and payroll processes for American businesses and their accountants. It’s recognized that a “good job” is insufficient. A thriving environment for people and ideas requires connection, culture, encouragement, growth opportunities, challenges, communication, and much more.

This is a fully remote team with over 175 employees across the United States, along with a co-working space located in Canton, Ohio.

The search for a new team member begins with the aspiration to find a quality individual who embodies the core values:

1. **Be Customer Obsessed** – The focus is always on the customer, ensuring that tremendous value is delivered to the businesses served.

2. **Lead With Speed** – Prompt action and bold decisions are valued to maintain a competitive edge.

3. **Don’t Cut Corners** – Quality is paramount, with a commitment to owning technologies, development, and operations for an exceptional experience.

4. **Create a Better Us** – Continuous improvement is pursued by simplifying processes, intelligently prioritizing initiatives, automating where feasible, and exercising fiscal responsibility.

5. **Follow The Golden Rule** – Treatment of others is paramount. Disagreement is welcomed, and feedback is seen as essential regardless of its source.

6. **Grow, Be a Leader** – Leadership qualities are sought at all levels, with a priority placed on the customer and team.

About The Role

An exceptional opportunity is available for a Senior Payroll Product Manager to elevate the payroll product. The ideal candidate is an attentive listener and communicator, skilled in prioritizing needs across stakeholders while ensuring transparency. Independence, collaboration, exceptional organization, and intellectual curiosity are essential traits, along with a knack for rapid problem-solving using innovative technology

What You’ll Be Doing

A candidate with substantial SaaS experience and a strong track record of successful feature/product launches is sought.

The team is well-equipped to take projects from concept to launch, featuring developers, automated testers, designers, along with the PM focused on outcomes, not just outputs.

The weekly responsibilities will cover five essential areas that may adjust based on the features and products being developed.

– **Working closely with the Development team.** Define upcoming work clearly, ensuring the team understands the purpose behind their tasks and identifying broader solutions to prevent recurring issues.

– **Developing a deep knowledge of the Customer.** Engage with customers to understand their challenges, ensuring software remains simple and intuitive, while collaborating regularly with support and success teams to identify pain points and devise actionable solutions.

– **Developing a deep knowledge of the Data.** Track success metrics to evaluate project outcomes, monitor customer behaviors, and leverage data interpretation skills to connect ideas and features directly to intended outcomes.

– **Developing a deep knowledge of the Business.** Gain a comprehensive understanding of the hiring company’s operations, including sales, marketing, legal, training, and customer service while building trusted relationships with stakeholders.

– **Developing a deep knowledge of the Industry.** Analyze industry trends, forecast customer behaviors, and conduct competitor assessments to highlight strengths and improvement areas.

This is a sample of responsibilities; the job requires adaptability to deliver exceptional customer experiences as duties and activities may change at any time.

What You’ll Need

– 6+ years of SaaS product management experience or equivalent experience, preferably in payroll; adjacent industry experience will also be considered.

– Working knowledge of Agile software development lifecycles (SDLC) and release management concepts relevant to cloud (SaaS) software.

– 6+ years of experience collaborating with software engineering teams.

– 2+ years of experience with design and quality assurance teams.

– Proven record of successful product launches, including iteration on MVPs supported by metrics.

– Preference for informed but quick decision-making to encourage a culture of speed.

– Capability to distinguish between permanent decisions and those subject to iteration.

– Demonstrated skills in data analysis, user research, and product vision.

– A self-directed, self-motivated mindset.

– Strong interpersonal skills; empathetic, passionate, and driven. Relationship-building with the team, sales, marketing, support, and customers is vital.

– Open-minded, humble, and a team player.

– Excellent writing skills.

– Consistent, reliable high-speed internet access.
