Role Overview
As a Senior Product Designer focused on electronic products, you will take ownership of the entire design process, from concept to production. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that each product meets the highest standards of functionality, aesthetics, and user experience. Your deep understanding of electronics and industrial design will be key in translating complex requirements into intuitive, attractive, and manufacturable products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of electronic products, ensuring the perfect blend of functionality, usability, and aesthetics.
- Create detailed product designs, including 3D models, sketches, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing, to ensure designs are feasible and meet technical and business requirements.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and optimize designs for end-user satisfaction.
- Oversee the development of product specifications, materials selection, and manufacturing processes to ensure the highest product quality.
- Work closely with hardware and software teams to integrate design with technology.
- Stay current with industry trends in electronics and industrial design, ensuring our products remain competitive and innovative.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on electronic products (consumer electronics, IoT devices, wearables, etc.).
- Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino) and prototyping tools.
- Strong understanding of industrial design principles, including ergonomics, usability, and manufacturing techniques.
- Knowledge of electronics and how they integrate with product design (circuitry, components, etc.).
- Experience with materials selection and manufacturing processes for electronics, such as injection moulding, CNC machining, or 3D printing.
- Ability to conduct user research and translate insights into innovative product designs.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering teams and present ideas to stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to designing products that delight users.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards for electronic products is a plus.
