Job Overview

As a pivotal member of our Construction team, the Senior Project Manager will be instrumental in overseeing all facets of capital construction projects. This remote position encompasses the management of permitting, vendor procurement, contracting, and comprehensive construction management. You will be in charge of document control, invoice processing, change management, commissioning, and project closeout, ensuring flawless project execution from start to finish and fostering success at every stage of the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, including:
  • Development of new data center buildings.
  • Redevelopment or upgrades of existing properties into state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Expansion of critical infrastructure within existing sites.
  • Large customer fit-outs or retrofits tailored to specific needs.
  • Oversee all stages of construction, from pre-construction and design development to competitive bidding, team selection, oversight, and project closeout.
  • Collaborate with internal business units to develop business cases that support project approvals, ensuring timely coordination and proactive communication with all stakeholders.
  • Create and manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to solicit bids from vendors and contractors, overseeing the selection process to meet project requirements.
  • Work alongside commissioning partners to ensure system testing, validation, and readiness upon project completion.
  • Ensure accurate turnover of project documentation to the operations team for a seamless transition and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate closely with Data Center Operations to integrate project deliverables into operational frameworks and address potential challenges.
  • Act as a liaison between design teams and Data Center Operations to confirm that project goals align with technical and operational standards.
  • Maintain and distribute monthly internal project reports detailing budget, schedule, and overall progress.
  • Assist in managing contracts for vendors, including negotiations.
  • Foster continuous improvement by implementing insights gained, process enhancements, and cost and schedule optimization initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Required Skills

    • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment, with 40% on-site presence and 60% remote work within the same geographical area.
    • Willingness to travel and manage remote projects with adaptability to evolving requirements.
    • Understanding of mission-critical facilities and experience in managing construction within live environments is essential.
    • Strong knowledge of the entitlements process, including permitting and inspections.
    • Familiarity with complex mechanical and electrical systems and their installation and operation.
    • Proven ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while interpreting design drawings and technical specifications.
    • Proficient in drafting RFPs, assessing vendor proposals, and preparing and executing contract documents.
    • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with a talent for collaborating effectively across diverse teams.
    • Capable of contributing to budget development for complex construction projects.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
    • 5 to 7 years of experience managing construction projects of increasing complexity, including CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) construction.
    • Strong preference for candidates with experience in data center construction.

    Compensation And Benefits

    The annual base salary for this role ranges from (150,000 to )175,000, with eligibility for an annual bonus and equity based on individual and company performance.
