    He angitūtanga | About the role

    We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of our Property Compliance Programme, from scoping to completion. This programme aims to bring all compliance activities under control and seamlessly transition BAU operations.

    You will manage and coordinate various compliance activities across all DOC sites, applying effective project and relationship management methods to ensure their successful completion, before handing them over for ongoing operational maintenance.

    Key responsibilities includes;

    • Project manage a wide range of compliance activities, including asbestos inspections, building warrants of fitness (BWOF), seismic, HSNO audits, off grid power system inspections, remedial works, and more.
    • Establish project monitoring to share with governance, including budgeting, reporting, and data management, to ensure compliance is achieved across all sites within DOC.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Turn complex compliance processes into efficient, actionable plans and systems, pulling together data to facilitate smooth project execution.
    • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks, ensuring smooth delivery within compliance requirements and deadlines.
    • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to guide and structure the portfolio of compliance activities and lead its successful delivery and BAU implementation.

    Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

    We are keen to her from you if you have the following;

    • Extensive experience in residential and commercial building compliance, including familiarity with code of compliance processes, asbestos management, HSNO audits, facilities management and remedial works.
    • Proven experience managing large-scale, complex projects with a strong understanding of project management principles, risk management, and governance.
    • Proficiency in MS Office tools and MS Project.
    • Strong background in compliance audits and the ability to operationalise compliance strategies within a property management, facilities management or technical building environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, along with a proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams.
    • A technical understanding of property compliance activities, ideally within central or local government.
    • Understands the impact DOC and the wider public sector/government has on the Māori-Crown relationship.
    • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous situations and bring structure and clarity to complex projects.

    Desirable:

    • Certified in Prince2 or Agile (or similar) and adept with a range of project management practices and methodologies.
    • Experience working with asset management systems, establishing compliance regimes, facilities management and data management.
    • Knowledge or experience in Local or Central Government environments.

    The salary range for this position is $95,706 – $128,271 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

    Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
