Senior Project Officer Transport Partnerships | City of Gold Coast | Australia

About the team

Located within the strategic transport planning team known as ‘Transport Policy and Partnerships’, we are responsible for setting the future transport direction and priorities for the Gold Coast in relation to active transport, public transport, car parking and other sustainable transport opportunities. The team is made up of 10 staff with expertise in a range of different areas such as transport planning, engineering, strategic planning, contract management and procurement.

About your new role

The ‘Senior Project Officer – Transport Partnerships’ manages the different transport partnerships that the City of Gold Coast (City) has in place with external providers. These partnerships allow the City to offer different transport options to the community that a Council would not typically operate. Examples of this include a ferry service and bike share scheme.

This is an exciting and interesting role that offers diversity and autonomy to the successful candidate who will be empowered to shape how they manage stakeholders and the existing City transport partnerships in place. You will be responsible for managing existing partnerships such as the City’s bike share scheme, ferry service, free seniors and veterans bus travel initiative, City cab service and car share trial. The role is primarily responsible for procuring and overseeing the contractual arrangements in place with each service provider to ensure their effective delivery. This includes acting as the City’s principal point of representation and liaison with each supplier to assist with marketing, problem solving, data collection and analysis, reporting activities and budget management tasks.

We’re looking for people who:

  • Possess a ‘can do’ attitude in an environment of competing priorities and attention to detail.
  • Effectively manage projects/studies/trials from initiation to close out including the procurement and supervision of external consultants and liaison with internal stakeholders.
  • Work independently to solve problems including analysing data, identifying and assessing options and risks.
  • Quickly re-prioritise workloads in a fast-paced local government environment.
  • Establish strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Prepare high quality reports, briefing notes and presentations.
  • Provide tactical and technical advice to various audiences, articulate ideas and listen and respond to feedback.
  • Coordinate advice and input from various sources in a timely and accurate manner.
