Our office, dedicated to Grants and Contracts Administration, is committed to ensuring the responsible stewardship of sponsored projects. We work tirelessly to facilitate compliance with sponsor requirements, including OMB Uniform Guidance, and other pertinent regulations and University policies. With a focus on financial compliance and proper accounting, we provide essential support to post-award staff, faculty, and various units across the university throughout the lifecycle of sponsored awards.

Primary Purpose Of The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Senior Research Administrator, Reporting, and Compliance Specialist. In this role, you will apply accounting principles to various fiscal functions, ensuring adherence to Uniform Guidance and sponsor requirements. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and analyzing expenditures on sponsored awards, preparing financial reports, and conducting desk audits. Effective communication skills are essential as you collaborate with sponsors and principal investigators to gather necessary documentation, promoting clarity and efficiency in all interactions.

Summary Of Position Responsibilities

As a Reporting and Compliance Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with award terms and conditions, maintaining exemplary communication with internal and external stakeholders. Your duties will involve responding to inquiries, facilitating external audit reviews, and providing timely and efficient customer service to all parties involved. Additionally, you will contribute to process improvement initiatives, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree and 1-2 years of experience; or a
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration and 2-4 years of experience in financial reporting on federally-sponsored awards, and/or Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification.
  • Proficiency in computerized financial and accounting systems, including MS Excel.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet reporting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on relevant regulations and trends.

Necessary Certifications/Licenses

  • None specified.

Preferred Certifications/Licenses

  • CRA – Certified Research Administrator.
