We work flexibly and remotely, using our workspaces in Footscray and Ballarat for onsite collaboration. We have a mature digital services platform of contemporary cloud-based infrastructure, technical architecture and scalable and reusable common capabilities, with real-time integration into agency legacy systems. We use a range of market-leading technology, such as AWS, Salesforce, Node.js, React, MuleSoft, Sitecore (.NET), HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and Java. From a Salesforce point of view, we use areas such as Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Omni Studio and Public Sector Solution.

Service Victoria is an Administrative Office attached to the Department of Government Services (DGS). DGS was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone’s experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.

Service Victoria and DGS are bringing important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.

We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

Technology Group

The Technology Group within Service Victoria sets direction, governs, builds and manages the technology underpinning the digital services we provide to citizens.

The Technology Group is comprised of Technology Architecture, Software Engineering functions, Information Security, Infrastructure and Service Management.

The Key Technology principles within Service Victoria are: customer focussed, product-centric, modern architecture, industrialised delivery, scalable cost and reliable services.


About the role

As a Senior Salesforce Developer you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and maintaining innovative solutions within our Salesforce ecosystem. Leveraging your extensive experience in Salesforce development, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in architecting solutions that optimise Salesforce functionalities including customisation, integration and automation. Additionally, you will participate in initiatives to continuously improve and optimise our Salesforce platform, staying abreast of Salesforce technologies and best practices.


Key accountabilities

  • Design and Develop Salesforce solutions
    • Collaborate with Product, Service Delivery Management, Business Analyst and other stakeholders to understand product / solution requirements
    • Design and develop scalable and efficient solutions using Salesforce
    • Implement best practices for Salesforce development
    • Maintain, support and upgrade complex Salesforce software systems
  • Testing and Quality Assurance
    • Conduct thorough unit testing of developed software
    • Collaborate with Quality Engineer(s) to ensure the quality of solutions
  • Mentoring and coaching
    • Mentoring and coaching more junior team members
    • Setting technical standards and approaches for the team
    • Oversee coding standards and ensure adherence by conducting code reviews
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise / leadership on Salesforce solutions
    • Collaborate with system architects and other developers to ensure seamless integration between systems
  • Documentation
    • Create comprehensive technical documentation
    • Keep documentation up to date with any changes or enhancements
  • Production support
    • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues ensuring the stability and performance of all Salesforce systems and applications

Key selection criteria

  • Proven experience in designing, developing and implementing Salesforce solutions – understanding of Salesforce development best practice
  • Proven competency in development and testing standards ensuring the delivery of high quality solutions
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability – able to translate complex problems into effective solutions
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching more junior team members
  • Great communication skills and ability to build effective professional relationships with both business leaders and team members
  • Stakeholder engagement – able to effectively work with both internal and external stakeholders

Experience and qualifications

Mandatory requirements

  • Significant demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the areas of OmniStudio, Platform, Data Cloud, Experience Cloud, Service Cloud and/or Public Sector Solutions (PSS)
  • Certifications commensurate with your areas of knowledge and expertise
  • Experience optimising the SDLC working in an agile delivery environment
