Overview:
LMI is seeking for a Senior Service Designer to support a large-scale federal agency employee experience (EX) transformation initiative. We are seeking an energetic, self-starter leader who is focused on practical and efficient solutions delivered by an interdisciplinary, collaborative team. This individual will work as part of a cross-functional team, providing EX, user experience (UX), human centered design, and service design support to the federal agency, leading research, analysis, and recommendation activities associated with a transformative EX improvement initiative.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate employee experience (EX) and user experience (UX) discovery activities to deeply understand employee needs and touchpoints.
- Plan, prepare, execute, and assess multiple human centered design workshops that engage large stakeholder communities in EX research and design activities.
- Lead the development of an agency-wide EX initiative strategy, governance, and organizational framework, engaging a broad network of stakeholders to ensure that products are human centered, and drive intended EX outcomes.
- Develop comprehensive employee personas and journey maps, incorporating insights from various stages of the employee lifecycle.
- Conduct gap analyses based on defined organizational EX strategies and initial research findings.
- Design and recommend improvements for business processes and employee experiences.
- Inform and contribute to the continuous refinement and communication of EX strategies and vision.
- Capture user feedback to make informed recommendations for system and process improvements.
- Mentor and guide junior service designers, providing expertise and oversight on project deliverables.
- Develop and deliver research insights and recommendations (and other briefing materials) to senior agency leaders and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and user-centered design solutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Centered Design, UX Design, Psychology, Sociology, Organizational Psychology, Information Technology, Business, Public Administration, Employee Relations or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in service design or a related role, with a proven track record of leading design projects.
- Expertise in employee experience (EX) frameworks and best practices.
- Expertise in UX research methodologies and tools.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying human centered design techniques and practices to large scale organizational transformations.
- Strong analytical skills and experience translating complex research findings into strategic recommendations.
- Proficiency in whiteboarding and other virtual design and collaboration tools (e.g., Mural, Miro, FigJam).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
- Certification in UX or Human-Centered Design.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Human-Centered Design, UX Design, Employee Relations, or a related field.
- Experience working in the public sector or with government agencies.
- Experience supporting employee engagement/relations and/or other human capital/workforce related activities.
- Certification in business process reengineering or improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Certification in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, AdobeXD)
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior designers.
