We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our platform team. You will work on Linux system and kernel interfaces to support the containerization of the Exasol installation and provide configuration and administration interfaces for users, and be responsible for a team alongside a Tech Lead. This role will involve both hands-on technical work and people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain services and libraries in modern C++ and async Python.
- Create and manage abstractions for process management, synchronization, and messaging across cluster nodes.
- Implement significant software development initiatives or projects at a high level of complexity.
- Take key technical decisions.
- Continuously promote Agile engineering practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) or Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs.
- Play a key role in the resolution of critical customer issues.
- Continuously improve system performance, reliability and scalability.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Take on the role of a team lead, motivating the team, delegating tasks effectively, and ensuring that project milestones are met.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years technical experience as well as team lead experience
- Proven ability to write safe, secure, and long-term maintainable software.
- Proficiency in Agile Engineering practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Interest or skills in people management, including mentoring junior engineers and leading small teams.
Preferred Qualifications: (optional)
- Experience with Exasol or similar database systems.
- Knowledge of distributed systems and cluster management.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools.
