Senior Technical Engineer (Remote)

CoVet is an AI copilot and scribe for veterinarians, designed to help them save time, improve their work-life balance, and focus more on pet care. Our passionate and agile team is dedicated to making a lasting impact in the veterinary industry. As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our engineering team and are seeking a motivated, experienced individual to take on a key role in developing and scaling our technology.

Role Overview:

As our Senior Engineer, your primary focus will be backend development, building the scalable systems that drive our platform forward. Beyond backend, you’ll support the frontend team, ensuring smooth feature integration and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects on track. You’ll also take on CI/CD and infrastructure tasks, becoming a key contributor to all facets of our development process. Working closely with the CEO/CTO, you’ll own feature development, refine our practices, and play a vital role in the growth of our technology.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems that support a high-growth, dynamic platform.
• Collaborate with the frontend team to ensure seamless, integrated feature development.
• Lead backend-focused projects from concept through production, making critical decisions along the way.
• Support CI/CD, deployment, and other infrastructure to ensure an efficient, reliable tech stack.
• Drive requirements from concept to completion, delivering features independently and at pace.
• Work closely with the CEO/CTO to define and execute the technical roadmap as we scale.

Experience

Proven track record of building products, startups, or equivalent projects at scale. For us, hands-on experience building real-world solutions matters as much as formal work years. We’re looking for someone who knows how to create, build, and launch.

Experience with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud, Firebase preferred) is a plus.

Skills

• High agency with a “can-do” attitude; you know how to deliver results no matter the obstacles.
• Strong engineering skill set with backend expertise and the ability to guide frontend development.
• Proficient in NodeJS, with experience building scalable backend systems.
• Proficient with CI/CD processes and deployment best practices to support scalable operations.
• Excellent communicator, comfortable collaborating across teams and distilling complex concepts.
• Bonus: Spanish language skills and SF-based for in-person collaboration a few days a week.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
