Professional Level
Level E3 – An Engineer, 3 typically plans and directs research or development work on complex projects, along with engaging various parties in design and development. Costs and recommendations of new components may also involve part of the job scope. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer, 3 oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems . An Engineer, 3 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems . An Engineer, 3 has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies , and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of user experience strategies and design solutions to meet project and customer requirements.
- Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to understand user needs and behaviors.
- Design wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and mockups to effectively communicate design ideas.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to ensure designs align with project goals and technical requirements.
- Apply human-centered design principles to improve the usability and accessibility of applications and systems.
- Develop and maintain design documentation, including style guides, design systems, and user experience specifications.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback and usability test results, ensuring continuous improvement and refinement.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) and user interface (UI) best practices.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to junior UX designers and team members.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to drive innovation and improve design processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or a related technical field; Associate’s degree and 4 years of experience; 8 years of experience in lieu of degree to meet education requirement
- 7+ years of experience in UX design, user research, and prototyping.
- Strong proficiency with UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Axure.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying human-centered design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement responsive and accessible interfaces.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG 2.1).
Preferred/Desired:
- One or more of the following:
- Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g) UX Certification
- Human Factors International (HFI) Certified Usability Analyst (CUA)
- Interaction Design Foundation (IDF) UX Design Certification
- UX-PM Certification (UX alliance)
- Certified Professional for Usability and User Experience (CPUX) by UXQB
Salary Range
$96,370.33 – $109,838 USD
9thWay Insignia’s range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
