White Rabbit has been delivering bold, purposeful brand, web, and print design for New Zealand businesses for a decade. Last year, we expanded our burrow to Los Angeles, bringing our creative expertise to a whole new audience. We’re now on the hunt for a dynamic and creative Senior Web Designer with a strong background in building standout websites using WordPress and Elementor to join our team. You’ll lead the design and development of websites that blend creativity with functionality, shaping the online presence of our clients across a range of industries.
As a Senior Web Designer at White Rabbit, you’ll play a pivotal role in the design process, overseeing the execution of web projects from concept through to launch. You’ll create visually stunning and user-friendly websites that align with client objectives and industry best practices.
What we’re looking for 🧐
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in web design, with a focus on responsive and user-centered design.
- Advanced skills in industry-standard design tools, including Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of Elementor and WordPress.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of web design projects, demonstrating creativity, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of user experience.
- Expertise in front-end development with a strong grasp of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as familiarity with web frameworks and content management systems (CMS).
- Solid understanding of a vast array of WordPress plugins and how to integrate them effectively into web projects.
- Proven ability in designing and optimising eCommerce stores using WordPress and WooCommerce.
- Experience with web design best practices, performance optimisation, and cross-browser compatibility.
- A passion for staying up to date with emerging trends and technologies in web design and user experience.
- Ability to communicate design concepts clearly to clients and team members, incorporating feedback into the design process.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident in engaging with clients, gathering design requirements, presenting concepts, incorporating feedback to revise designs and delivering high-quality work on schedule.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
What you bring to the table 🧑🎨
- A relevant degree or qualification in Web Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
- Initiative, problem-solving skills, and out-of-the-box thinking that elevate every project.
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage complex web design projects from start to finish.
- Advanced skills in UX/UI design, wireframing, prototyping, and delivering pixel-perfect design solutions.
- A collaborative mindset, working closely with other designers, team members, and clients to ensure high-quality output.
- The ability to manage budgets, timelines, and client expectations while maintaining design integrity.
- Strong knowledge of SEO best practices and how to implement them within web design.
- Experience with web analytics tools to assess website performance and user behavior.
- A keen eye for detail, ensuring all designs adhere to brand guidelines for consistency across digital platforms.
- A knack for conceptualising, designing, and executing user-centered web interfaces that align with client objectives.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey design rationale and strategies to clients, simplifying complex concepts into clear, understandable terms.
- Advanced skills in typography, layout, colour theory, and design appeal.
Bonus points for 🌟
- Motion design or animation expertise.
- Familiarity with backend web technologies or full-stack development.
- Knowledge of other popular website platforms like Webflow, Craft CMS, Wix Studio, and Shopify.
- Proficiency in working with APIs or custom styling for WordPress plugins.
- Experience with conversion rate optimization (CRO) to improve website performance and user engagement.
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices and experience implementing them to enhance website visibility and search rankings.
- Graphic design experience, particularly in branding and visual identity creation.
- Copywriting skills.
- Customer service experience.
Working in the burrow 🐰
This is a full-time permanent position, working 40 hours a week.
You’ll work with the team producing innovative web design solutions that help achieve client and company goals.
This role will be fully remote—but candidates must be based in LA (as occasional face to face meetings may be required).
