About FinLocker

FinLocker is on a mission to create financially fit homeowners and digitally empowered lenders. Through our FinLocker app, we provide the tools and transparency for a streamlined and stress-free home ownership process. Our product is available to consumers in private-labeled versions through our clients who are primarily mortgage lenders, credit unions, and banks.

At FinLocker, we are creating a revolutionary customer-centric company of talented, enthusiastic people who enjoy coming to work every day. Things move quickly at FinLocker and that means we must be nimble. We look for people that love big challenges, welcome change, and want to be part of an organization that is on the front line of how the homeownership industry interacts with consumers. We keep sane working hours, while still taking care of business, and believe in being ourselves on and off the job.

FinLocker was founded by mortgage experts and is backed by Cultivation Capital, TransUnion and other investors. We are based in St. Louis, MO and have a remote team working across the US.

  • About the role: Software Engineer *

We seek someone who is first and foremost passionate about delivering a technical platform that meets consumer needs. To succeed with FinLocker, you will also be experienced in partnering closely with product leads, designers, and architects as one product team. Ideally you will be organized, data-driven, impact-oriented, and excited to work in a flexible and independent startup environment. Comfort with remote working, pet-filled Teams calls, and pun-oriented jokes will help a lot!

Our Software Engineers design, develop, document, and test software to ensure that the software meets the needs of end-users and achieves business goals. For this role, we expect a software engineer to collaborate with other members of the development team and always be willing to document and share the technical aspects of projects.

We are looking for an experienced, curious, and team-focused Software Engineer with experience in building solutions designed for the Cloud SaaS platforms. Our team leverages fundamental building blocks like Microsoft Azure and SQL Azure and various other Microsoft Azure cloud services to build next-generation financial services products to drive the FinLocker vision and business. Our goal, every day, is to deliver a platform that meets the needs of our customers (primarily companies in the mortgage and banking industry) and consumers.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, release, and scale new and existing consumer product features to power our Web and mobile apps

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features

  • Continuously improve the applications; find and fix bugs and suggest longer-term architecture updates while improving application performance

  • Instrument applications to ensure we can fully understand consumer utilization and allow rapid issue resolution

  • Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

  • Evaluate opportunities to bring new features to mobile users from a technical perspective

  • Build strong working relationships across the development, product, customer success, and technical operations team

We Seek Someone Who Has

  • 3+ Years experience with C# and .Net 6 or beyond

  • Proven experience with Entity Framework

  • Development for a cloud environment (Microsoft Azure strongly preferred)

  • Experience developing microservices and containerized deployment

  • Strong SQL skills developing complex queries (Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Azure strongly preferred)

  • Experience with secure software development practices including knowledge of OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities and how to avoid them

  • Experience with the Angular web framework

  • Very highly recommended: Prior working experience in a startup OR demonstrable startup mentality (eg, bias to action, willingness to test and fail in order to learn, comfort with uncertainty, enthusiasm for trying new approaches and working in a highly collaborative way with the full team)

What We Offer

  • A remote work environment.

  • Competitive salary and equity package.

  • A 401K plan.

  • Company paid comprehensive health and dental insurance.

  • Unlimited PTO policy.

  • A creative, collaborative, and growth-oriented work environment.

  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives by improving their financial fitness and supporting every step of their homeownership journey .

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 – $115,000; exceptionally strong candidates may be considered for more senior roles as available. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
