As a C++ Software Engineer at Ascom, you will be joining our R&D team to improve and innovate our communication solutions for healthcare, industry, security and retail. In this role you will solve complex problems for our customers by creating new or adapting existing software products.
You will develop an understanding of the unique goals of projects and develop and maintain software to broaden Ascom’s product offerings. You will work as part of a cross functional team within a multinational environment, closely collaborating with the wider R&D Team.
This role is based in our office in Cluj-Napoca, Ascom provides the opportunity for preferably hybrid working.
Your Contributions:
- Design and implement optimal software solutions with a focus on functionality, reliability, performance, and timelines.
- Assess and interpret customer and stakeholder requirements, translating them into software features.
- Provide estimations and assist product owners in selecting optimal solutions.
- Support in resolving customer issues, including software maintenance and refactoring of existing products.
- Translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
- Participate in design and code reviews, collaborating to improve technology and development practices.
- Create technical requirements and design documentation, and contribute to user documentation.
- Stay current with technical developments and new technologies in relevant areas.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional and international team.
The Ideal Candidate:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience: Proven background in software design and development.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in C++ and Java.
- Experience with Eclipse, Visual Studio, and agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of build & deploy automation, DevOps, unit testing, and object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with .NET, wireless messaging, and hardware interfacing is a plus.
- Knowledge of relational database operations, particularly with PostgreSQL.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience working in a Linux environment and with bash commands.
Additional Skills:
- Strong communication skills and experience working within agile development teams.
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of JavaScript and Python.
