The Data & Analytics team at Compass is responsible for enabling a data-driven culture at Compass by building a unified and scalable analytical platform that drives operational excellence, business intelligence, and data science use cases. As an Analytics Engineer on the Data & Analytics team, you will play a critical role in building and improving our analytical infrastructure. You will be at the forefront of helping turn raw data into meaningful insights for business stakeholders across the company.

At Compass You Will:

Architect and optimize analytical solutions that transform raw data into scalable data assets that enable robust self-serve reporting and business intelligence
Collaborate with cross-functional business users to gather and define requirements that will be the blueprint for solutions
Partner with data engineering teams to architect data models and pipelines that support business intelligence and data science use cases
Help scale and improve our existing analytics infrastructure
Define, design, and implement business metrics that automate operational reporting and self-serve reporting use cases
Develop and design artifacts (e.g dashboards, reports) that story-tell and offer insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Analytics Engineers on the team

What We Are Looking For:

8+ years of relevant industry experience
Advanced SQL, DAX and data modeling skills
Experience with a data visualization tool (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc)
Experience with a cloud based data lakehouse (e.g Databricks, Redshift)
Strong understanding of data modeling and software engineering best practices
Preferred experience with a programming language (Python, PySpark, R, Scala, etc)
Experience working with business users to translate requirements into scalable assets that deliver proactive insights and enable self service analysis
Growth mindset, self-starter with a desire to continually learn and improve
Team player, willingness to work within a collaborative team environment
Passion for solving challenging, complex problems in a fast-paced & sometimes ambiguous environment
Experience migrating artifacts (e.g dashboards) from one data visualization tool to another is a plus

Advanced SQL skill set + 1 programming language used for data analysis/modeling

Strong understanding of data modeling concepts & best practices

Can they navigate between Fact and Dim tables.
Can they speak to creating metrics from fact and dim tables
Customer facing – must be able to work directly with business users to generate user stories, requirements, etc. Not reliant on Technical Project Manager

Self starter // self managing – person is able to understand the next priority & doesn’t wait to be directed. Speaks up when clarity is needed
How will we test → Specific project examples of role within project, behavioral questions around being proactive, does candidate understand that impact is measured by business, can they answer how they measure success of projects
