About the Role:

As a Senior Server Engineer, you will play a key role in the architecture, maintenance, and optimization of large-scale server environments. You will manage complex server infrastructure projects, lead incident resolution efforts, and serve as the technical expert for advanced server and systems issues. This position demands a thorough understanding of server technologies, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage advanced server environments, ensuring optimized performance, security, and scalability across multi-site environments.
  • Lead server architecture planning and upgrade initiatives, including virtualization, redundancy, and backup strategies.
  • Troubleshoot complex server and system issues, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve incidents and support Level 2 and Level 3 escalations.
  • Implement and enforce server security measures, including access controls, monitoring, and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Optimize server performance, monitoring resource utilization and proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Document server configurations, processes, and troubleshooting workflows, contributing to knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Mentor junior server engineers, providing guidance on complex technical challenges and promoting professional growth.
  • Conduct capacity planning, disaster recovery, and failover testing to ensure system resilience and business continuity.
  • Develop efficient and tailored server architecture solutions aligned with client needs.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Server Engineer, with extensive experience in managing Windows Server, Linux, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of server virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V, including experience with virtual machines, containers, and orchestration tools.
  • Expertise in operating systems, including Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) and Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, or RHEL).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation and process improvement.
  • Experience with cloud environments and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid infrastructure management.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices for server environments, including firewalls, SSL, LDAP, SSO, and multi-factor authentication.
  • Familiarity with server management tools (e.g., SCCM, Ansible, Puppet) and monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Relevant certifications are highly preferred: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, CompTIA Server+, or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written). CEFR B2+ / C1

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage configuration and management.
  • Experience with networked applications and protocols (e.g., NFS, SMB, FTP) and firewall configuration for server systems.
  • Understanding of web servers (IIS, Apache) and database management (MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools for asset administration.
  • Ability to anticipate and ensure scalability and compatibility with additional devices, such as IP cameras, access control systems, and PoE configurations.
  • Experience with equipment such as Dell, HP, and Cisco UCS is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Next-Gen Antivirus and endpoint protection tools, such as CrowdStrike or Bitdefender.
