Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of National Engagement & Regional Administration (ARA) and the Aviation and Space Education (AVSED) Community Engagement Activity Tracking System (CEATS). This position involves leveraging cloud technology, process automation, and Agile methodologies to deliver innovative IT solutions. Must have a strong Microsoft background.
Position Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of IT tools and systems in compliance with FAA standards. You will collaborate with stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and create process improvements to enhance system functionality and user experience. Your role will also include testing, system integration, and managing software configurations in an Agile environment.
Essential Functions
- Facilitate and lead workshops to identify requirements and demonstrate Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) system features.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document requirements, identify process improvements, and provide best-practice recommendations.
- Prepare workshop results presentations, including action plans, quality metrics, and workflow diagrams, within five business days of conclusion.
- Design, develop, and maintain IT tools for desktop, laptop, and mobile interfaces, ensuring compliance with FAA standards.
- Develop and implement process automations for enhanced system functionality.
- Perform solution architecture, application design, and software integration using Agile development methods.
- Conduct functional and user acceptance testing (UAT), manage defect remediation, and facilitate go-live transitions.
- Plan, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Software Configuration Management Plan (SCMP).
- Manage software change requests, ensuring accurate documentation, impact analysis, and approval processes.
- Collaborate with FAA stakeholders to assess system updates and plan future enhancements.
- Develop risk management plans and software testing strategies to ensure system stability and performance.
- Collect and analyze metrics, including cost, schedule, progress, and defect tracking, to optimize system performance.
- Perform system sizing analyses and propose architectural improvements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Cloud/Azure knowledge and experience in Agile environments.
- Database design, website development (front-end and back-end), and UI/UX implementation.
- Modular, open software solutions compatible with Microsoft Dynamics 365, PowerApps, and Azure Cloud Services.
Preferred Tools & Platforms:
- Jira, MS Teams integration (e.g., Service Desk Chat functionality).
- Azure Synapse, SQL Server Management Studio, MS PowerBI, Leadership Connect.
- ServiceNow Public Sector Digital Services Pro, Automation Engine Professional Unattended Robot, and SmartSheet.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing Agile-based projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience with FAA-approved IT/software configurations and processes is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in software development, system analysis, or IT solution architecture.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $175,000.00 – $250,000.00 per year
