Description

The Technical Lead for iGrid/DER will provide strategic technical direction, guiding a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality products. This role involves hands-on leadership in designing, building, testing, and deploying components, with a focus on managing and supporting the development of complex technical solutions in collaboration with Lead Developers and Product Owners. 100% remote, EST time zone. Long term contract.

Core Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Oversee the design, build, test, and deployment of components.

  • Work closely with Lead Developers (Data Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Technical Test Lead) on key technical aspects.
  • Define technical scope and deliver high-quality solutions based on requirements and use cases.
  • Identify and confirm required developer skillsets specific to the product.
  • Provide leadership, direction, peer review, and accountability to developers, ensuring alignment with delivery goals.
  • Assist the Product Owner in prioritizing and managing the team backlog.

• Collaboration:

  • Work with Data and Solution Architects on critical technical decisions, ensuring architecture and design meet product requirements.

• Technical Development and Delivery:

  • Engage in hands-on development and peer review of product components.
  • Set up development instances and oversee migration paths with appropriate security, access, and roles.
  • Develop components, workflows, and ETL processes to support data pipelines.
  • Implement data quality frameworks and load testing to optimize performance, especially for big data.
  • Support data scientists with model testing and validation.
  • Build new data pipelines, automate solutions, and address data gaps.
  • Ensure a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach for code quality.

Core Experience and Abilities

• Background in Power Systems Engineering and DER Dispatch.
• Hands-on experience with automated fault analysis systems.
• Proven ability to lead teams in delivering complex products.
• Strong communication skills and experience interacting with business stakeholders.
• Solution-oriented with solid architecture skills.
• Experience in real-time data ingestion streams (event-driven).
• Knowledge of data security and permissions, including encryption, access control, and logging.

Core Technical Skills

• Proficiency with AWS data and analytics services: Athena, S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, SNS, CloudWatch.
• Programming tools and languages: Django, Python, Java, Scala, Pandas.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform.
• Experience with databases: Redshift, Document DB, DynamoDB, MongoDB.
• Experience migrating on-premises big data platforms to cloud environments such as AWS.

Key Interfacing and Coordination Responsibilities

• Act as a bridge between developers, the Project Manager, IT, and business stakeholders.
• Coordinate cross-functional team activities and ensure timely, high-quality service delivery.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and assist in deploying new applications.
• Support the Service Introduction Lead in assessing the impact of new applications on support.
• Ensure project delivery aligns with business and technical objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Business, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with an information technology focus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT project management or service delivery, spanning diverse application areas and technologies.
