Job Description
We’re seeking a talented Telecom Engineer with the experience necessary to help maintain our existing infrastructure and troubleshoot problems as they arise. We’re a growing company with highly dedicated IT professionals who give their all to help our enterprise flourish. The ideal candidate for this position can prioritize mission-critical tasks and coordinate the construction and expansion of our systems so updates and other maintenance tasks don’t get in the way of daily operations. We’re interested in automating as many of our processes as possible to be quicker and reduce the chance of human error.
Telecom Support Engineer Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot & resolve complex technical issues in the customer environment
• Proactively monitor our solutions (using observability chain tools such as Prometheus, and Grafana)
• Share best practices to reduce problem occurrences
• Execute the action plan agreed with the customer and the rest of the operations team. Also, ensure there is no adverse impact of the planned activities on the network
• Replicate and maintain customer environment in Lab, as appropriate
• Participate in deploying and maintaining the solution in customer premises using automated solutions such as Chef and/or Ansible and adapting the cookbooks, recipes and parametrization as appropriate for operational lifecycle
• Keep customer informed regarding the progress, next steps and set realistic expectations on issue resolution
• Contribute to Knowledge Management database
• Escalate the issues promptly, as appropriate
• Communicate with the project team, management, and the customer, ensuring that all stakeholders receive the appropriate level of information.
What will you bring
• Solid knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, commands, file systems, storage, file editing, file manipulation, Shell/Bash scripting
• Good know-how in the telecom field (knowledge of telecom signaling protocols: MAP, Diameter RO, and Camel)
• Knowledge of Wireshark usage
• Knowledge of KVM virtualized environments and Cloud architectures
• Solid knowledge of observability chain tools (Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Good grasp of networking principles and protocols, TCP, IP, LAN, routing, subnets
• Nice to have DB administration knowledge (Oracle / Cloudera / EDB / MySQL)
• Basic knowledge of GIT
• Nice to have: HPE TAS/OCCP/OCMP experience
• An open-minded, solution-oriented and pleasant, team-capable personality with good English skills.
What will you do
• Manage the next generation of telecom software platforms
• Timely respond to customers inquiries. Log cases, provide information & troubleshoot to solve customer problems according to the company’s KPIs for the business and project specific SLAs
• Manage customer expectations and identify potential issues before they occur
• Develop strategies for risk mitigation
• Keep customers informed, set and follow commitments, keep precise case documentation and case ownership
• Timely elevate and escalate to the next level when the case is complex
• Actively participate in process or quality improvements
• Manage multiple tasks or cases simultaneously
• Support active and self-paced improvement of technical and business process knowledge
• Participates in the On-Call rotation schema (current cadence of 1 week per month)
• As a Network Applications Operations team member, you will actively support hands-on the entire implementation cycle.
