Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Obstetrics & Gynaecology / School of Medicine team. We are seeking a highly passionate, enthusiastic individual to take on our role as a Clinical Trial Manager, which is internally known as Trial Manager – Research – Mate Whenua Trial. You will be coordinating the recruitment of women and pregnant people who are having an early medical abortion. The research study will be randomising participants to one of two methods of follow up of an early medical abortion to ensure the pregnancy has ended – either self-assessment, or having results of two blood tests checked by health practitioners. This study aims to demonstrate the follow-up protocols’ clinical effectiveness, safety, and acceptability.
This is a parental leave cover position and is fixed-term, part-time, 15 hours per week for 6 months- start date March 2025
The salary range for this role is $77,101 – $88,900 per annum prorated, depending on experience and qualifications.

He kōrero mōu | About you
You will have familiarity with managing clinical research projects in clinical settings, ideally in New Zealand. You will be familiar with the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications in nursing and research. You will understand Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines. You will also have basic computer skills, including Microsoft 365, which you will use alongside your research coordination experience.
You will also:
- Have experience using REDCap database.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have high attention to detail.
- Be able to take initiative.
- Data administration experience.
