Job Summary

Altair is looking for an experienced and talented UX Designer to join their internal digital product design team to create unique, user-centric products and experiences for their portfolio of Simulation, HPC, and AI-driven products. Ideally you would have experience working with agile teams including product managers, designers, and developers. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around creating strategic UX artifacts that guide design and development decisions before, during, and after the product development lifecycle.

What You Will Do

• Team player capable of comfortably cross-collaborating with teams and roles of all different shapes and sizes. From large legacy teams to small emergent product teams you will need to interact and collaborate with all level of product managers, developers, documentation writers, and designers.
• Perform requirement gathering and discovery tasks for UX design exercises with functional managers, product teams, and stakeholders.
• Create UX design artifacts (presentations, documents, diagrams, etc.) to help guide and influence product and feature development using User Research, User Testing, User Flows, Prototypes, and Low and Medium Fidelity wireframes.
• Present and defend your ideas and decisions using User Research, User Testing, and Usability and Accessibility best-practices to designers and non-designer stakeholders.
• Show self-organization, initiative, and thoughtfulness when approaching UX design tasks.
• Stay up-to-date on current UX Design trends, patterns, and industry standards and present and share with your team on a regular basis.
• Document UX design research and testing to share broadly with internal shareholders.

Basics

What You Will Need:

• 1-3 years experience working as a UX, UI, Product, or Visual Designer.
• Bachelors in Graphic Design or related degree and education level
• Portfolio showing critical thinking and ability to solve UX challenges using User Research, User Testing, Key Insights, and strong command of UX best practices.
• Systems-thinking capable with ability to understand how users navigate and interact with complex product experiences, advanced user journeys, and digital ecosystems.
• Experience using the following tools and services: Miro, Notion, FigJam, Azure, Figma, UserTesting, Maze, etc.

Preferred

• Experience working with: Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, AI, ML, or similar domains, Experience designing for Web-native and SaSS applications.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development process
• Understanding of Design Systems and UI design fundamentals and how they relate to UX including: design systems, UI components and patterns, and visual design.
