About the Role:
The Vendor Performance Manager, Logistics and Materials is responsible for managing the performance and ongoing continuous improvement of their third-party logistics (3PL) providers as well as the contract management of a portfolio of materials supply contracts, ensuring providers and service levels align with their strategy, priorities and performance expectations. Role responsibility include identifying areas for improvement within the logistics operations and inventory management of third-party logistics services and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risk and optimise service levels. By proactively identifying opportunities for optimisation and innovation, the Vendor Performance Manager, Logistics and Materials will continuously and ultimately enhance the overall effectiveness of the supply chain.
About You:
- Degree level qualification in procurement, supply chain or related discipline and/or extensive work experience within the procurement and supply chain profession.
- 5-10 years’ experience and detailed operating knowledge in managing within a complex supply chain environment. (Asset Maintenance experience will be highly regarded).
- Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive experience in managing third party logistics contracts, including leading continuous improvement and performance improvement.
- Experience across inventory planning, management and logistics within a heavy industrial business.
- Experience working with centre-led Procurement, delivering lifecycle category management.
- Proficient in leading logistics improvement initiatives, fostering innovation and operational efficiency.
- Management of contract performance, ensuring compliance and resolving issues promptly.
- Optimisation of supply chain systems, providing training for efficiency and reliability.
- Implementation of process improvements, leveraging metrics for innovation and technology integration.
- Management of supplier relationships and inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and availability.
- Development of stakeholder engagement strategies, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
- Proficiency in identification and mitigation of supply chain risks, ensuring resilience and compliance.
- Proficiency using business systems including ERP, Source to Pay systems and the Microsoft Suite (incl. Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
Management Experience
- 1-2 years experience leading and mentoring a small team of logistics personnel is desirable, setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and fostering a collaborative and high performance team culture.
- Mentoring procurement and supply team members and stakeholders (internal and external) in best practice logistics, enhancing their capabilities and improving overall supply chain efficiency.
- Proficiency leading cross-functional project teams to achieve key objectives, fostering collaboration and communication, resulting in successful project outcomes and streamlined processes.
