Mag: Thanks so much for your question Kimberly and so sorry to hear about your experience. The remote job market is very competitive and I hear your frustration. However, you being here is already a great step towards changing the outcome going forward. I believe you can do it and we are here to support you.

As far as the question, we do not have that kind of service but will definitely evaluate with Pangian team. However, it is highly suggested that every candidate be fully involved in the process from the beginning to the end in the application process, as this is a necessary preparation for the interview.

In the meantime, I recommend evaluating step #1, #2, #3 in the recruiting process to find the root cause. As part of the process. If you would like, I will be happy to personally review your resume, provide feedback and specific step-by-step recommendations. Here is more information. That will also help with step #3.

Mag: Great question Cari. When it comes to automated screening through ATS (Applicant Tracking System), the industry data gathered by our teams shows that “98% of Fortune 500 companies and a growing number of small and mid-sized businesses filter resumes through an applicant tracking system (ATS) before someone takes a look… if they ever do.”

Based on my observation, in remote work space the number is a bit lower since there are more small-size companies hiring. However, please don’t be afraid of ATS. If you follow the resume/CV building steps described in the webinar, you will be passing through ATS with flying colors.

Mag: Thanks so much Vanessa for that feedback. Per my answer to Kimberly, we do not offer that service yet, but I will definite consider it. It may be more of a “let me help you do it” coaching program, as I strongly believe that every candidate should be fully involved in the process from the beginning to end, as that is a necessary preparation for the interview. Mag: Hi Uli, great question. If the bachelor degree was officially awarded and you do have a certificate from the University – absolutely you can and should mention it. That’s a great accomplishment. There are a million ways to accomplish something and yours is just a bit different, but result the same. Of course, as outlined in the webinar, make sure that the degree matches what employer is looking for but other than that, go for it. Resume/CV is all about making you shine.

Pangian Team: Great question! ATS (Aplicant Tracking Systems) is software specially designed for companies to manage the applicants on their end only. They are not available for candidates.

Mag: Absolutely. In general more education, skills and great results = better job and better pay. Also, less competition. However, per information included webinar, always make sure that you are matching information included in the resume to the job posting you are applying for.

Pangian Team: Great question Cari! This will be a good idea if you travel a lot to give employer a contact number where they can reach you regardless of location 🙂 Just make sure you indicate this is what’s app #.

Pangian Team: Great question Rose. This depends on what the company is looking for. If they are looking for one of those skills, definitely include it.

Mag: That depends Ignacio. The approach to resume gaps is very circumstantial and could be a webinar on its own. However, in a nutshell, it depends when the gap was. If it was recently, try to evaluate all your projects, tasks, activities (including volunteer activities) that occurred during the gap. From those – try to list any tasks or results that will showcase the skills required on the job.  If the gap was a long time ago – decide if you even have to go that far in your resume. Remember all you have to show the amount of experience required by the employer, plus maybe extra 1-2 years as a bonus.

Mag: When creating your resume always stay truthful. That’s the best policy. However, dig deep. Evaluate every single detail of what you did or projects you worked on. I often find, while working with candidates, that they don’t give themselves enough credit.

Another option is also, to include the scale of projects or companies you worked for. Eg: include the name of the company you worked for and include details of the company reach (number of employees, number of countries they operate, etc). That will give an employer understanding of the initiatives you normally are part of.

No, you don’t. As a matter of fact,  all you have to show is the amount of experience required by the employer, plus maybe extra 1-2 as a bonus. You don’t not have to include your entire work history. Keep in mind – this is a marketing document.

Yes. I strongly recommend adding a professional-looking profile picture as it creates instant credibility.

Yes. It may not be easy but it is possible.

1. Create a killer resume (per webinar)

2. Write a killer Cover Letter and Application. You may want to touch on that subject highlighting top notch results your deliver.

3. Try to reach out to the recruiter/HR manager via LinkedIn or email. In a short message, express your strong interest in the position/company and highlight the results you deliver.

Mag – In general you want to keep your margins at least at 1 inch but I always customized to make sure that the content is visually appealing. The example is 1 inch left, 0.4 inch right – however you do not need to follow that. Adjust as necessary to make sure your text aligns well on the page and it’s easy to read.

Mag – that depends. It’s all about customization for the specific job posting. If the job posting asks for a specific skill set and you belive that would enhance your candidate-job fit, then yes you can add it.

Mag – again depends. In general you want to include your full work history. However if you have 20 yrs of experience and the job is for somebody with 5 years of experience, you will appear overqualified. In this situation if you are comfortable with the job requirements, you can focus on the last 5-7 years of the most recent and relevant experience and do not have to include full 20 years.

Mag: I would say give it your absolute best first to research and find that out. Try going to company’s page, reviewing team members, finding the HR manager. If that does not work, try linkedin. If there are multiple people with similar HR titles, try to email or message one of them and express how much you love the company and would like to put your best foot foward and address the cover letter to the hiring manager. Ask if they would be able to help you and share the first name.

If that does not work, the worst case scenario, address it to: Dear (Name of the Company) Team. Eg: Dear Pangian Team.
