The role of a Project Manager – Ubuntu Embedded Systems atCanonicalAs a Project Manager for Canonical’s Devices business, this role isresponsible for the coordination and completion of large complexcustomer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of project delivery andacting as the primary delivery liaison between Canonical’sengineering teams and Canonical’s customers.You will be managing the projects that involve the delivery of Ubuntuimages on a wide variety of devices ranging from robots, edge gateways, andIoT devices to PCs and automotive systems. This is a high-profile projectmanagement position where you are expected to build and maintain workingrelationships with team members, customers, other partners/vendors (Siliconvendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other Canonical departments/teams.This role will be based remotely in the AMERICAS region.What your day will look likeManage projects through their complete life cycle and ensure that theoverall goals for both Canonical and the client are metSuccessfully deliver engineering professional services for assignedprojectsWork with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery ofUbuntu images to the customersAssist in the development of project statements of workDraft and maintain project-specific schedules/project plans Obtain client agreement to the project schedule and agreed-upon workitemsEnsure projects are delivered within the time/resources/scopeexpectationsManage project risk mitigation and plansDrive technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomesMaintain daily and weekly communication with the client and allinternal stakeholdersManage delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables for theprojectKeep management informed of the status of assigned projectsIdentify custom engineering requests that are not part of an existingbusiness contractAdvocate the appropriate technologies from Canonical’s productportfolio to customersSupport different time zones and work non-traditional hours as requiredto support the assigned projectsYou will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneouslyWhat we are looking for in youSolid project management experience in delivering engineering servicesto customers managing software development teams and field engineersExtensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-culturaland multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferablywith resources in Asia, Europe, and the AmericasEducational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, orMathGood knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community,and understanding of computer architectureExcellent communications skills, both verbal and written, inEnglishStrong leader and problem solver with extensive experience buildingsuccessful internal and external partnerships and effective workingrelationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizationalenvironmentsPMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferredAbility to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide salesand project teamWillingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal eventsWhat we offer youYour base pay will depend on various factors including your geographicallocation, level of experience, knowledge, and skills.
