I survived a plane crash and was lucky to be able to write about it (and 15 other survival stories) in Bracing for Impact: True Tales of Air Disasters and the People Who Survived Them (Skyhorse Publishing, 2016). This experience spurred me to join the Peace Corps for a two years, something I'd wanted to do since I was a teenager.
